Biography:

Brett Slensky is an associate with Manko, Gold, Katcher & Fox LLP, where he focuses his practice on environmental aspects of commercial transactions, property development, and regulatory compliance matters. He has represented a broad array of clients including individual property owners, real estate developers, municipalities, and Fortune 100 companies in various matters involving:
  • the acquisition, development, and redevelopment of contaminated property;
  • structuring transactions to optimize available federal and state liability protections while minimizing potential residual risks and environmental liabilities;
  • site cleanup and remediation under state voluntary cleanup programs and property transfer laws;
  • negotiating and drafting environmental provisions in agreements of sale, leases, and other real estate contracts;
  • negotiating and drafting the terms of environmental insurance products and professional service agreements;
  • advising companies on compliance with complex federal and state regulatory requirements;
  • the appeal of a municipality's denial of an Act 537 sewage planning module for new land development, including the submission of a Private Request to the Pennsylvania Department of Environmental Protection;
  • actions before the Pennsylvania Environmental Hearing Board;
  • the negotiation and settlement of administrative penalties and permit appeals with federal and state regulatory authorities;
  • counseling clients on the available federal and state incentives for the production and use of alternative energies; and
  • reuse of dredge materials.

Brett has lectured to industry audiences and written articles on topics such as environmental due diligence, residual and municipal waste regulations, and energy-efficient building design and construction.

Before joining the firm, Brett worked as an associate with Drinker Biddle & Reath LLP in Philadelphia. Prior to his legal career, he worked as an environmental consultant on numerous brownfield redevelopment and site investigation and remediation projects throughout the mid-Atlantic and upper Midwest states.
